Prime Minister Joseph Muscat today again called on the European Commission to give Libya the importance it deserved.

The Prime Minister told European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker during a meeting that the EU should consider what was taking place in the south of Europe.

He said that Libya was going through a difficult period and Europe had to give this country, which was moving towards serious administration problems, the importance it deserved.

The Prime Minister also said that irregular migration remained a problem and insisted on concrete help from the other European countries to those countries most affected by the problem.

Dr Muscat also discussed the economy with President Juncker and insisted that Malta was consistently meeting deficit aims while having consistent economic growth.

This should lead the country not to fall under Excessive Deficit Procedure, he said.
