A model who fell for the ruse of the Danish fake doctor who tricked her and two others into undergoing medical examinations that included having their breasts fondled feels the “pervert” got off too lightly.

She believes that had the court been informed about the Dane’s long history of similar offences in other European countries, the magistrate would have treated the case differently.

The model also believes that the ‘stethoscope man’, as the 25-year-old was called in various press articles, had recorded a video of the medical examination. She claimed this concern was “ignored” by the police who seemed reluctant to search his laptop or mobile phone for anything of the sort.

It was all very strange but he was so convincing we trusted him

The model is one of three – aged 22, 24 and 26 – who accepted to speak to Times of Malta about their ordeal on condition of anonymity. The other models refused to be interviewed for fear of retribution.

She said although they felt “something was fishy”, the Dane was such a good actor he was “convincing enough” to trick them.

The case surfaced last Friday when the man, Michael Camilo Precht, was arraigned under arrest on a number of charges. These included violent indecent assault on the three women, practising medicine without a recognised qualification, assuming a public function without authorisation and using a falsified document to gain access to Mater Dei Hospital.

He pleaded guilty and was given a two-year suspended sentence and fined €2,329.

Although he carried out his acts on January 16 and 17, conversations he had with the young models in the run-up to the bogus medical examinations show how he had been planning the ruse for several days before.

The conversations, seen by Times of Malta, reveal how Mr Precht had visited the hospital on various occasions, and had carefully studied which rooms would be available, the times and even the time of day when there would be fewer people around who could possibly mess up his plans.

It all started around January 12 when Mr Precht contacted one of the girls via Facebook saying he was setting up a rescue company and needed models for a photo shoot. He said the models required a medical certificate for insurance purposes as it would take place on rescue helicopters, jet skis and boats.

He first told me to remove my top to weigh me, and then used the stethoscope to examine me

In a long-winded conversation on Facebook, Mr Precht claimed to be a paramedic doctor who could carry out the medical examination “from head to toe” himself, including an ECG and an ultrasound on their breasts to check the heart, lungs and blood pressure.

He warned the models that they would have to take off their clothes for this examination and stay in their underwear, except for the ECG.

“If you don’t want a medical under your bra, then I will have to find someone else, because these are EU rules,” he is claimed to have said, convincingly.

Remarking that this was “very weird”, the model asked for a female doctor but Mr Precht said she would have to pay for the doctor herself if this was what she wanted.

Since the medical examination would be carried out at Mater Dei Hospital – where he said he worked – Mr Precht persuaded the models to go individually “as the hospital will make me charge you”.

He met the first model on Friday evening at the hospital’s main entrance and took her to the Outpatients Department.

“He was wearing a T-shirt and jeans and had a stethoscope hanging around his neck,” she said, explaining that he first told her to remove her top to weigh her, and then used the stethoscope to examine her.

She said he then invited her to lie down for the ECG and asked her to remove her bra for the ultrasound on her breasts.

“It was all very strange but he was so convincing we trusted him,” the model said.

She added that, before the examination, Mr Precht told her the stethoscope he was using was very avant-garde and it measured the heart rate, so he had to switch on a button to start recording.

“Then he went behind the computer chair and pressed a button...”

“Afterwards, when I read that other models abroad reported having had footage and photographs taken of their medical examination, I became suspicious. I told the police but they told me that, since I was not sure, they could not do anything about it as they couldn’t just check his laptop,” the model said.

Mr Precht then met the other two models the following day, one at 6pm and the other right after. “He was rushing us.”

The model said she used her arms to cover her breasts when asked to remove her bra but at a point during the examination, he asked her to extend her arms for an examination.

The models, who compared experiences, said they were taken into different rooms on Friday and Saturday and on both days he locked the door as soon as they walked in. When the 25-minute ‘examination’ had ended, he told the girls they could leave while he remained in the room packing things into his black backpack.

One of the models, who saw a cleaner as she walked into the room, said that after the medical she ran a Google search on him and was shocked when she discovered the Facebook page exposing his ploy.

“I knew it was too late by then but I called the other girls and told them about it so we decided to go to the police the next day,” she said.

During the police investigations, they were asked to go back to hospital to watch CCTV footage and identify Mr Precht, who was arrested last Wednesday.

Sources said Mr Precht persistently denied any wrongdoing during his interrogation and immediately blocked the girls from his Facebook page.

The models said Magistrate Audrey Demicoli’s sentence was too lenient.

“Had the court been told about his history, he would have been treated differently. He’s been at it since 2009 and the police knew this because we gave them all the links to the stories and the Facebook page,” she said.

Excerpts from the conversations

Michael Camilo Precht held long conversations with the three women over Facebook, where he informed them about the medical examinations and lured them to Mater Dei Hospital for the tests.

When the women asked whether there was a female doctor who could do the tests, especially since they had to remove their bra, he said this would cost them extra money.

Here are some excerpts of the long conversations:
