The Governance Board of local councils has rejected complaints by the FKNK that two councillors broke the code of ethics when they wrote about the hunting referendum on the Facebook page of Attard local council.

Attard Deputy Mayor Marco Spiteri and councillor Ralph Cassar wrote on the council's Facebok page about why they will vote 'no' in the Spring hunting referendum.

The Board, presided by Dr Joe Mifsud, said councillors had a right and a duty to express their views on goings on in the country. Therefore the councillors had not broken the  code of ethics.

Indeed, it was in the interests of the voters to know the views of the people they had elected, on matters of public interest.
