Anne Cachia writes:

The Good Shepherd Sisters and lay associates mourn the passing away of Sr Frances Marie Ellul, while thanking God for her life, which touched so many people.

Sr Frances worked with troubled young girls who could not live at home, as well as with victims of domestic violence and their children. She was a person of God and her beautiful face radiated peace and reconciliation.

Indeed, after many years she felt the call to join the Contemplative Order of the congregation, saying that prayers were the only solution in most cases. Knowing she would have to leave Malta as there were no Contemplative communities of the Good Shepherd in Malta did not put her off.

She did not hesitate to leave her Sisters, family and friends and travelled to the US to answer her calling. She would visit Malta every three years, assuring one and all that she was in the right place.

Recently, she went to Italy for two years but returned to the US, which had become her home. She passed away there after a short illness. She was aware that she was soon to meet her Maker and told me she was feeling great peace.

Dearest Frances, you who loved and prayed so much for us all, we shall always remember you and keep you in our hearts.

We are happy to know you are resting and no doubt reaping your reward. Please, carry on interceding for us all.
