With the infrastructural works completed and concrete laid along that part of Sir Adrian Dingli Street that connects Castle Hill to Republic Street, the rebuilt street is being covered with porfido paving cubes.

The paving material and pattern will be the same as that used in other parts of the street and Pjazza Savina. Once works are completed, this arterial road will be reopened to traffic.

The works included the laying of new water mains, including large mains supplying the west of Gozo, a new sewage system, a new walk-through service culvert for electrical supply distribution and stormwater culverts. The previous sewage system dated to the post-Victorian era. The works had to stop several times due to discoveries of archaeological remains and due to the coordination required with the Water Services Corporation to ensure minimum disruption of the water supply system.

Works on the paving of Pjazza Savina with granite slabs has also gathered pace and will soon be ready. Once completed, the centre of Victoria will be paved with around 5,000 square metres of natural stone materials, including porfido, granite and travertine.

Victoria local council obtained financial support from the European Regional Development Fund for the project, which was designed by architect Edward Scerri and is being managed by William Sultana.
