John Pace, president of Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo (FSEG) presented Gozo General Hospital CEO Nadine Delicata a CO-pulse oximeter. It was the organisation’s 68th donation to the hospital.

This modern, compact instrument is used by nursing staff at the accident and emergency department to check the level of carbon monoxide in a patient in a non-invasive way. Carbon monoxide poisoning can occur especially with the use of malfunctioning heaters in homes, in cases of fires or with exposure to vehicle exhaust in closed spaces.

The FSEG, which was set up 26 years ago, operates the meals-on-wheels service in Gozo and loans equipment and beds to patients looked after in their homes.
