The Blood Donation Unit visited FTIA Ltd’s new premises at Smart City Malta. The blood donation drive was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility commitment to promote community values among its employees.

FTIA managing director Kevin Jude Paris said such visits served to promote donating blood, particularly after the festive season and to spare a thought for others.

An encouraging number of employees volunteered to donate blood, with over half being registered as first-time donors.

Sports & Social Committee member Alexia Savona, who has been a blood donor for over eight years, said it was encouraging to see employees thinking of others.

“It was gratifying to see employees registering as donors for the first time and supporting each other while thinking of those in need. I’m proud to be part of this team,” she said.

First-time donor Maria Muscat said: “We work hard every day, side by side, sometimes overlooking the nobler aspects of life. This blood donation drive was an opportunity for us to stop and think of others and seriously consider becoming regular donors.”

Those interested in organising blood drives are invited to call the National Blood Transfusion Centre on 2206 6209 or 7930 7307.
