Mason: Ryan Mason has committed his future to Tottenham, penning a new five-and-a-half year deal at White Hart Lane. the 23-year-old midfielder made his debut for the club in November 2008 as a late substitute at NEC Nijmegen in the UEFA Cup. Mason spent time on loan at five other clubs before belatedly making his first league appearance for Spurs nigh on six years after his debut.

Salah: Chelsea have told Roma they will only allow winger Mohamed Salah to leave this month as part of a permanent deal worth £11m. The Blues were not expecting to do any major business in January but are prepared to sell Salah, who is yet to start in the Premier League this season. Roma had hoped to take Salah on loan but Chelsea have told the Italian giants they would have to make the switch permanent at the end of the campaign.

Simonsen: Rangers goalkeeper Steve Simonsen has been charged by the Scottish Football Association with breaching strict gambling rules. Hampden chiefs claim the 35-year-old Englishman placed 18 bets last season and another 37 this term. SFA Disciplinary Rule 33 prohibits players, coaches, club officials and referees in Scotland from betting on football anywhere in the world.

Cork: Ronald Koeman has given Jack Cork one week to sign a new contract at Southampton. The 25-year-old has played an important role in the club’s rise from Championship to Champions League contenders. “No, we are still waiting about the answer of Jack and we like to know it next week,” the Saints boss said. “If Jack likes to stay I’m very happy, if not then we need another midfield player.”

Thelin: Bordeaux have bolstered their forward ranks by signing Sweden international striker Isaac Kiese Thelin from Malmo. Kiese Thelin joins Willy Sagnol’s side on a four-and-a-half-year deal from the Swedish champions and could face Bastia in Ligue 1 tomorrow.
