Endrit Kaca took his scoring run to another level as the Albanian hit six goals in Qormi’s 12-6 win over derby rivals Żebbuġ Rangers.

The Yellow-Blacks, now fifth in the Premier Division standings, led 7-3 before the break with the 24-year-old Kaca scoring a first-half double. Kaca added four more goals after the break while substitute Allen Medati, newcomer Dario Zampa and Basil Onuta scored two goals each.

Żebbuġ tried to get back into contention as they reduced the margin but Qormi stayed in front. Jamie Portelli was twice on the mark for Żebbuġ with the other goals coming fromJason Mifsud, Ricky Zammit, Bernard Bonnici and Ġorġ Borg. In another match, Mosta produced a fine second-half display to overcome Gżira United 4-3, opening a three-point gap on their opponents in the bottom half of the standings.

Luke Stivala had given the Maroons a deserved half-time lead but Ryan Buhagiar levelled in the opening seconds of the second period to spark Mosta’s revival. Goals from Diego Gomes de Mello, Armando Gjepali and Gabor Balan put the Blues in the driving seat.

Gżira reduced the arrears with an Alessio Restuccia double but their frantic efforts to salvage a draw were in vain as Mosta held on to record their second win of the season.
