Immigrants will no longer have to queue at Evans Building in Valletta to pick up their residence permit but will be able to do so in the Ħal Far open centre.

Identity Malta said that, as of yesterday, all services offered by the Department for Citizenship and Expatriate Affairs regarding applications for and collection of residence permits would be available at the open centre.

This was part of Identity Malta’s work aimed at improving the efficiency and quality of services offered to immigrants granted protection by the Refugee Commissioner, it said in a government statement.

Setting up an office at the open centre will alleviate the long queues that used to form outside the Department of Information in Castille Place and, subsequently, at Evans Building every Friday morning.
