The Labour and Nationalist parties’ electoral campaigns for April’s local elections will start on March 8, the two parties said in a joint statement.

They said that with respect to the cultural and religious traditions of the Maltese and Gozitans, they agreed there would be no electoral campaigning on March 27, Our Lady of Sorrows, and between April 1 and 5, the latter being Easter Sunday.

The two parties also agreed not to use party agents for the distribution of referendum voting documents, even though they could do this according to law.
