Luxol 68
Athleta 55

(Luxol win 133-101 on aggregate)

Caffé Moak Luxol secured their third honour of the season after completing a 133-101 victory over rivals Athleta in the two-legged Louis Borg Cup final yesterday.

Buoyed by their 65-46 victory in Friday’s first leg, Luxol were in the driving seat throughout yesterday’s match.

They increased their aggregate lead to 27 points after winning the opening quarter 21-13. With Depiro unable to stem the tide, Luxol went in for the half-time break 37-24 ahead to all but seal their success.

Led by Lakeitha Alston, who contributed 22 points, Luxol remained on top in the third quarter before Athleta, for whom Amelia Simmons top-scored with 28 points, made a belated reaction to salvage some lost pride in the final 10 minutes.

By then, Luxol were already home and dry as they won the second leg 68-55 to take home their third trophy this season after their success in the Super Cup and St James Hospital Shield.
