Djay is a well-established name in the world of DJ apps and for good reason. The company behind it, Algoriddim has been creating apps since 2006 and all of them have been pretty good.

Djay Pro is a revamp of those mobile apps brought to the desktop. Like many of the music programs I review, this one seeks to make the often complicated method of music production much more accessible without compromising on features.

Use any fully featured DJ software and you could be forgiven for thinking you’re about to launch a space shuttle. Djay Pro looks authentic but is much simpler than professional ware. The interface is straightforward and easy to understand and navigate. After an hour of playing around, it’s easily possible to create at least the beginnings of something you would want to listen to.

The real ace up Djay Pro’s sleeve is Spotify integration. The facility to stream live from Spotify and include it in a mix is a real bonus. Of course, it isn’t as flexible as having the track downloaded, but it’s still a great tool.

Djay Pro has other features. Listened to a track on the radio and you simply must have it? Open Djay Pro, find it through Spotify and there you go. It really is that easy.

Djay Pro is an excellent proposition for casual DJs who don’t need a professional kit. It’s easy to access, includes plenty of effects, and boasts Spotify integration.

For something that began life as an app, Djay Pro offers a lot for your buck. It satisfies the need of casual users who like the simplicity of an app and the needs of more serious users who crave the features of professional software.
