Express Trailers will support Lions Club Sliema in its latest initiative to dispatch school furniture and stationery to Burkina Faso in Africa.

The company will be carrying six pallets of school furniture and stationery items .

Located in West Africa, Burkina Faso is ranked by the UN Development Programme Report as the country with the lowest level of literacy in the world.

Boys receive schooling preference, and, in fact, girls’ education and literacy rates are far lower than their male counterparts.

“This situation is practically unfathomable in Malta, where education is given a lot of importance. This is why, through this initiative, we hope to raise more awareness about this country and its needs, especially where children are concerned,” said Lions Club Sliema president Victor Borg Barthet during a visit to Express Trailers, where he met chairman and CEO Franco Azzopardi and head of sales and business development David Fleri Soler.

“We are happy to be in a position to renew our support to Lions Club Sliema in this commendable initiative. Our job on the roads goes beyond transporting goods. We seek to operate our logistics sensibly and responsibly and this includes lending our help when it is most needed,” Azzopardi said.

Borg Barthet, accompanied by committee members, presented a commemorative plaque to Express Trailers as a sign of appreciation.
