• Orchestral suites from operas by Richard Strauss, including Der Rosenkavalier, will feature in the next music appreciation evening being organised by the German-Maltese Circle Classical Music Group on Wednesday at 6.30pm at the circle’s premises, Messina Palace, 141, St Christopher Street, Valletta.

The recordings will be introduced by Michael Spiteri. Entrance is free. All music lovers are invited to attend these monthly meetings, which last around 90 minutes.

• An evening of prayer for peace and new evangelisation of the world will be held on Wednesday from 5.30 to 6.30pm at the Madonna tal-Ħerba sanctuary, Birkirkara. The event, comprising Mass, followed by 20 minutes of adoration, is organised by the International Movement of Prayer Pope John XXIII.

• An annual general meeting of past members of the Salesian Oratory, Sliema, will be held on Friday at 7.30pm, starting with Mass in commemoration of Mary Help of Christians. All past members and friends are invited.

• The Women’s Commission within Our Lady of the Lily Band Club of Mqabba is organising a high tea next Sunday at the Alexandra Hotel, St Julian’s. The activity will include snacks and is open to the public. Transport will leave Mqabba Square at 1pm. Bookings on 7953 9542.
