Wirt Għawdex has completed the restoration of the 1881 fountain and adjacent cross at the crossroad of Republic Street and Marsalforn Road, Victoria. The works included the installation of a new carved face according to the fountain’s original plans and a new lighting system.

The fountain was originally erected in 1881 to commemorate the supply of water via aqueducts to the then new residential area around the Capuchin church.
