The European Commission has launched a writing competition entitled ‘So similar, so different, so European’.

Young people from across Europe are invited to write an article of up to 1,000 words with their views on one or both of the following questions related to the EU enlargement: ‘What is your experience in an enlarged EU?’ and ‘How can the enlarged EU meet the challenges of the future?’

The competition is open to people aged 18 to 25 who are citizens of any one of the 28 EU member states. The articles must be submitted online to the European Commission by midday on February 27.

National juries will select one winner per country, who will be invited to Brussels for a three-day study visit.

The winning articles will be published by the European Commission and be circulated to Europe’s leading media for publication.
