There's no shortage of vehicles to choose from at this year's Detroit Auto Show, but when it comes to jaw droppers, Ford's new GT leds the pack.

Ford CEO Mark Fields said:

"We want to make cars that make people's hearts pound, and if this doesn't make your heart pound you may need to go see a doctor."

With a 600-horsepower, twin turbo engine, the car is hardly for those seeking a low profile.

But until now, that's just what the GT has kept, as engineers secretly worked on its design for 16 months in the basement of Ford's headquarters.

Another supercar driving pulses up in Detroit...Honda's Acura NSX.

After being discontinued a decade ago, the speedster is back with 550 horsepower and four modes offering different performance levels.

Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of Acura said:

"When you sit in the car the seats grip you. The steering wheel fits you like a glove. All the controls you need are at your fingertips and the A pillars are very thin so it doesn't seem like you're inside a car at all. You're just outside experiencing the drive. It's really a unique experience."

Also revving the engines... Alfa Romeo's 4C Spider with its removable carbon-fiber hard-top.

This ride will be tough to buy. Automaker FCA plans to produce only several thousand - all built by hand - in Italy.
