Libyan Wings, the new Tripoli-based airline, has signed an agreement with Lufthansa Technik for the provision of engineering and planning services.
Lufthansa Technik will provide aircraft engineering services including preparation of a comprehensive maintenance programme, compliance assessment for airworthiness directives and service bulletins to ensure Libyan Wings complies with all mandatory inspections/checks as advised by the manufacturer and/or the regulatory authorities.
The privately-funded airline, which currently has its two aircraft stationed at Malta International Airport, will function as a full-service carrier, offering both business and economy class seating.
The two aircraft, which are seven years old, have been maintained to date by Lufthansa Technik Philippines while the contract also extends to Lufthansa Technik Malta, which will maintain the aircraft in flight ready condition while they are in Malta, ahead of final clearances to start operations out of Mitiga International Airport.
The cabin interior had also undergone a total reconfiguration and refurbishment to Libyan Wings own specification of 12 business class seats and 108 economy seats.
The airline is expected to announce its official launch date soon and customers will be able to book flights online and through their sales' offices and appointed travel agents.
