I am sure most people who have had dealings with Mepa know how difficult this authority can be.

The people of Victoria should support their council in its struggle with Mepa over the tree uprooting question. The real issue is not the trees, but rather who has the final say.

I appeal for the support of Gozo’s mayors and ask them to speak to Mepa and to show solidarity with the Victoria council.

The trees in question at It-Tokk are a public nuisance because the hundreds of birds on them dirty the square below.

No authority in any modern country has the right to trample on the fundamental rights of the residents. These people, after all, are not elected.
