The sixth edition of the Betlehem f’Għajnsielem nativity village came to a close last Sunday with the arrival of the Three Magi.

Their voyage to Gozo started from Cologne Cathedral, Germany, where Archbishop of Cologne Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki gave them a symbolic send-off. They arrived in Malta via Brussels on Saturday and began their journey to Gozo on Sunday, travelling from Mellieħa in very windy conditions, and reaching the Għajnsielem nativity village in the afternoon. Crowds of people lined the route through the village to the Holy Family.

The Magi’s visit to Gozo was made possible through the collaboration of the Ministry for Gozo, the Christmas in Gozo Committee and Għajnsielem and Mellieħa local councils with the support of the Malta Tourism Authority.

Contacts in Germany made by Mellieħa local council were facilitated by the council’s twinning agreement with the town of Adenau, signed in 1996.
