I refer to the article entitled ‘Hibs, you’re out of line’ published on timesofmalta.com (January 3).

Ramona Depares stated that “Professional footballers are hardly on a par with clerks, salespeople, engineers and other, more mundane, careers”.

May I kindly remind her that engineers are professionals regulated by law and it is unfair and ridiculous to classify an engineer’s job on a par with other unprofessional jobs and without mentioning other professional jobs such as doctors, lawyers, scientists, accountants and architects.

Moreover, I would like to remind her that, in a civilised society, every job carries with it duties and obligations and every citizen needs to be a role model in his/her attitude towards others.
