A 48-year-old man was this afternoon remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to verbally threatening his ex-wife yesterday afternoon.

Defence lawyer Austin Gauci Maistre made a request for bail but Inspector Nicholas Vella pointed out that the man's wife and children were witnesses.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman told the prosecution to ensure the witnesses testified as quickly as possible.
