ATTARD. On January 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMELO (sive Charles) of Marsa, residing at Birkirkara, aged 78, passed peacefully away, after a very short illness, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers and sisters Fr. Wistin Attard OFM Cap, Joseph, Mary, John, Matilde, Frans and his wife Victoria, David and his wife Rose, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9.30am for the Holy Trinity parish church in Marsa, where mass præsente cadavere will be said at 10am, followed by interment in the family vault at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares would be appreciated.

CACHIA. On January 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, HELEN, aged 90. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers Monsignor Lawrence Cachia, Francis and his wife Maureen, Alfred and his wife Victoria, her sister Imelda and her husband Tony Serracino Inglott, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends amongst whom the members of the Society of Christian Doctrine (Mużew). Mass præsente cadavere will be concelebrated at St Philip church, Żebbuġ tomorrow at 3.30p.m. followed by interment at the Sacred Heart cemetery, Żebbuġ.

FRENDO. On January 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFRED, of Sliema, aged 77, ex-mechanic at Fiat, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Frances, his sons Jesmond and Jeffrey and his wife Davina, his granddaughter Antonia, his sister Jessie widow of Edward Cauchi, Marianne and her husband Victor Decarlo, Concetta widow of his brother Joe, his sister-in-law Dorothy and her husband Alfred Camilleri, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30pm for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza in Siġġiewi will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MEILAK. On January 1, tragically in Gozo, MATTHEW of Swieqi, aged 22, fifth year law student, went to meet the risen Lord. He leaves to mourn his great and irreparable loss, his beloved parents Lucienne and Stefan, his dearest sister Bea, his grandmother Cettina Caruana Curran and her husband Maurice, his grandparents Martin and Tania Vassallo, his aunts and uncles: Erika Vella and her husband Ivan, Danielle Drago and her husband David and John Vassallo and his wife Baudina, his cousins: James, Jonathan, Chrissa, Andrew, Julian, Sean, Elena, Jordi and Ella, great aunts and uncles, other relatives and numerous friends. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. The family regret that they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

PACE. On December 29, YOLANDA, née Bondi, aged 94. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Geraldine, widow of Michael Cooper, Christine, Joe and his partner Christine, her grandchildren Lucia and her husband John Waters, Louisa May, Simon and his wife Elka, her great-grandchildren, Isabella and Jack, her sisters-in-law, Gemma Pace and Maria Bondi, her brother-in-law Lawrence and his wife Winnie, her loving carer Lily, nephews, nieces and her many cousins and friends. The funeral Mass will be held today at 9.30am at St John of the Cross parish church, Ta’ Xbiex, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Inspire Foundation, Bulebel, would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the nurses and carers at Casa Antonia, Balzan, for all their loving care throughout her time there. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord.

SAPIANO. On January 1, at St James Capua Hospital Sliema, JOSEPH RAYMOND of Kappara, aged 79, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife Dorothy née Bonello , his only devoted son Martin and his partner Yvette, his grandson Jonathan and his wife Erika , his nephews and nieces Gail Smith , Allison Burrell , Mark Bell ,Sarah Bell, Claire Bencini, Bernardette Bencini Brachat and Angela Strutt. His sister-in- law Rosemary Sapiano and nephew Georg Sapiano other relatives and numerous friends and colleagues. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital Sliema on Monday January 5, at 8am for Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann where the Holy Eucharist will be celebrated præsente cadavere at 8.30am followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. Donations to Id-dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. Dear Lord, grant him eternal rest.
