It’s party time – but would you rather be eating pizza in front of television in your pyjamas? Do you celebrate in style or feel like it’s going to be a night of forced fun? Kim Dalli asked a few personalities how they’ll be seeing in the new year tonight.

Gianluca Bezzina, singer

It does feel like forced fun. I admit I feel pressured into going to a party as I am not the party type at all. Last year was fantastic though because I had a gig in Gozo. This year I’m going to a party but it’ll be more relaxed and something I’ll enjoy because I’ll be with my friends.

Ira Losco, singer

I’m usually working and this is actually the first time I won’t be. I’m in Taormina with my boyfriend and we’ll be enjoying some good food and wine. But I don’t feel pressured to go out as long as it’s with the right company and planned. I’m fine with spending the evening in my pyjamas, eating pizza and watching a DVD – as long as I would have planned it that way.

Pawlu Borg Bonaci, Fakawi frontman and comedian

From the outside I may seem like a party animal but I do stay home sometimes. Sometimes you may feel like you have to make the effort not to dampen others’ fun. But when you work in entertainment and catering, a night in is a blessing. I do feel bad that I’m indoors while the rest of the world is out celebrating. Once I’m with my friends I enjoy it though.

Stephanie Spiteri, presenter

Had I been younger, I would feel pressured to dress up and go out. I do believe there’s a trend – you feel as if you should be out having fun. But when you have children, things change. Nowadays I slip into something comfortable and chill. This year I’ll be spending the evening relaxed at a friend’s house, together with the children.

Ivan Grech, Winter Moods frontman

I do look forward to New Year’s Eve, as we usually have a Winter Moods performance on the night. It is a great occasion to end the year with a concert, celebrating with friends. This New Year’s Eve we will be performing in Victoria. It is a free open air concert, and even though it will be a cold night, we plan to keep the crowd warmed up with our music.

Justin Haber, footballer

It all depends on my mood. Tonight I’ll have to stay at home because I’m sick but you don’t need to go out to have fun. I actually prefer going out for lunch on New Year’s Day. Life can be hectic so I won’t pass up the idea of relaxing at home.

Simone Spiteri, theatre director, actor and playwright

New Year’s Eve is an excellent excuse to have fun and to meet up with large groups of people. But I don’t really give much thought to it. Sometimes it can be a rather low-key evening as well.
