Dar tal-Providenza’s Feast of Generosity will be held on New Year’s Day, said Fr Martin Micallef, the home’s director.

The event takes place under a big tent set up in the home’s car park on January 1. Dar tal-Providenza is made up of three residences: Villa Mgr Gonzi, Villa Papa Giovanni and Villa Papa Luciani. It also operates another three residences in the community: Dar Żerniq in Siġġiewi, Akkwarell in Qawra and Dar Pirotta in Birkirkara.

The home also offers respite service to members of families with people with disability.

As part of the fundraising events, there will be the annual art auction, supported by Obelisk Auctions. This year, various local artists have donated one or more pieces of art to be auctioned.

Those wishing to bid online may do so on www.dtpauction.com. Interested bidders should register prior to January 1.

On New Year’s Day, those interested can also bid by phone or by visiting Dar tal-Providenza. A catalogue of art works can be viewed at www.dtpauction.com. The exhibits will also be on show in the auditorium.

A Park & Ride service is being made available on January 1 from Triq San Niklaw (the old airfield) to and from Dar tal-Providenza. This service will operate from 2pm.

For the benefit of those who won’t be able to visit, the Feast of Generosity will be broadcast live on most television stations. Donations may be made at Dar tal-Providenza or at RTK Studios, Blata l-Bajda. Donations by phone or text message may be made to: 516 0 2 012 (€10); 517 0 2 013 (€15); 5180 2014 (€25); or 5061 8922 (€7).
