The Office of the President said this evening that the Christmas Midnight Mass it organised at St John's Co-Cathedral was open for everyone and no one was charged for going to Mass.

Reacting to reports in another section of the press, the Office said tickets were only issued for a Christmas reception held later at the Palace.

More than 1,200 were at St John's, of whom 300 were there for the Mass only.

During the Mass the cathedral doors were open and anyone could enter. Turnout was such that there were standing people, and others heard Mass in the sacristy, the Office said.
