Balzan FC made the first signing of the winter transfer window after securing the services of Bojan Kaljevic, from Mosta, yesterday.

The Reds have been one of the positive revelations of the 2014-15 season and succeeded in heading into Yuletide in fourth spot in the Premier League standings, with 22 points from 16 matches.

Earlier this week, coach Oliver Spiteri had told Times of Malta that he was looking to bring in reinforcements this winter.

This week Balzan held talks with Mosta and the towering Montenegrin striker who eventually agreed to put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract.

The arrival of Kaljevic will further strengthen an already formidable attacking line-up at Balzan who already boast of Brazilian Oscar Guerrero, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza and Italian Gianmarco Piccioni.

Kaljevic had been one of the most lethal forwards in the league during his time at Mosta.

In 2013-14, Kaljevic, formerly of Mladost, netted 12 times and this season he was again the Blues’ leading marksman with seven goals.

Kaljevic, however, will have to wait to make his debut for his new club as he must serve a three-match ban following his dismissal during Mosta’s 1-0 defeat to Balzan last weekend.

Balzan are also engaged in talks with Pieta Hotspurs over the signature of Malta U-21 player Terrence Agius.

The two clubs are yet to reach an agreement over the 20-year-old midfielder whose contract with Pietà expires at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, rumours were rife yesterday that Division One side Vittoriosa Stars are set to appoint former Inter and Napoli striker Arturo Di Napoli as their new coach.

Earlier this month, the Stars parted ways with ex-coach Brian Spiteri following a run of poor results.
