The first payment of €2.5 million, one of 12 for a total of €30 million, has been made by Electrogas to Enemalta, the government said.

The whole sum is being paid over a 12-month period.

The government said the payment is part of Enemalta’s financial plan which was to strengthen Enemalta. It also enabled tariffs to be lowered for families last March and for businesses the coming March.

Electrogas is building a gas power station. The station, due to have been completed in March, was delayed and the first production is now expected in June 2016.
