Thousands of Gozitan families from different localities warmly welcomed the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca during L-Istrina activities held in Gozo over the weekend. The activities started from Għarb and through each locality visited by the President, a special entertainment program was prepared, which included music from bands and choirs of children singing the hymns of Christmas.

The President thanked all the people present for making this such a special occasion and she explained that the real reason for Christmas is to spread love and joy to one another. She also said that if everyone donated just a little the Malta Community Chest Fund can have the opportunity to do great things by helping those who are really in need. 

After Għarb, the President of Malta visited the sports complex in Victoria where special activities were held by a large number of children in aid of l-Istrina. Present for this activity were the Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo.

The visit the continued towards Żebbuġ where the President of Malta was welcomed with this year’s song of solidarity for l-Istrina 2014 ‘Int min Int'. Here, the President said that Gozo’s population might be small but it does have a large heart. The President then continued by visiting other localities such as Għasri, Kerċem, Munxar, Fontana and San Lawrenz.  The visit ended in Victoria where a number of residents, organisations and companies gave their donations to L-Istrina.
