It was truly overwhelming to see the Msida parish church yesterday packed with people from all walks of life to pay their last respects to Auntie Jo. However, it was no surprise at all. Auntie Jo was a friend to one and all.

Auntie Jo was a woman who really and truly believed that she was on earth to dedicate her whole life to others. First and foremost, to serve the Lord. Then, her family, numerous friends and her neighbours. She treated everyone with the same love and respect, always ready and keen to give any free time she had to others.

She gave piano lessons to hundreds of people for over 60 years and she did this with great dedication and love. She helped with whatever was necessary at her beloved Msida parish, which she doted on heart and soul.

She worked relentlessly for the Nationalist Party for decades and organised many a coffee morning to collect funds for various ministers. And of course, she was totally committed to her family and extended family to the day she suffered her fatal stroke.

I have only lovely memories of Auntie Jo... an aunt who was like a second mother to me and my siblings, someone who loved and gave till it hurt, who never let us leave her house empty-handed, whether it was some fresh ġbejniet or chocolates for the children.

I'm sure God welcomed her in His loving arms and has now been reunited with her husband, mother, sister and other aunts and uncles.

To my cousins, Mark, Moira, Martin and Michael, may you treasure all her memories lovingly.

Rest in peace dear Auntie Jo.
