Finance Malta has made a contribution to the Marigold Foundation with funds collected from its corporate and affiliate members at its annual winter networking reception. The money will go to Action for Breast Cancer Foundation to fund its newly set up service offering psychological support to breast cancer patients, their families and carers.

The service, which will be offered by psychologists at the foundation’s new premises in Mosta, will start over the new year.

The donation was presented by Finance Malta chairman Kenneth Farrugia to Marigold’s chairperson Michelle Muscat in the presence of Parliamentary Secretary for Competitiveness and Economic Growth Joe Herrera and foundation chairwoman Esther Sant.

Muscat said the Marigold Foundation was set up with the purpose of raising funds to help organisations provide the right support to members of society facing challenging moments.

Sant said: “In the unfortunate circumstance that an individual is diagnosed with breast cancer, they are vulnerable and cannot feel they are just a number in the system.

“For this reason, we felt it was time to offer professional support to these patients and their families to empower them to face this challenge. The money received will be used to offer these services, meaning that each patient, irrespective of their financial situation, will be able to benefit,” she added.
