The Malta Community Chest Fund campaign in Gozo was launched with a Mass at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary presided by Gozo bishop Mario Grech. It was attended by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and Mr Preca and representatives of all Gozitan schools.

Clyde Vella welcomed the President on behalf of the students.

St Francis School Year 5 pupils and the Junior College Orchestra animated the Mass. The pupils also performed a pageant on the life of St Francis.

Nine-year-old Brooklyn Buttigieg delivered the sermon.

The bishop presented the President with a special etching of the painting of the shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta’ Pinu. The schools’ best cribs as chosen by judges were also displayed during the event. At the end of the Mass, heads of schools presented donations to the President in aid of the MCCF.
