Joseph Caruana will give a talk entitled ‘Our Cosmic Journey’ on December 27 at 7.30pm at the Cinema Room of St James Cavalier, Valletta, organised by Malta Cafe Scientifique. Admission is free.

Man has always looked up at the night sky, wondered, noted the positions of the stars and created myths to explain the flickering tiny points of light. Today, scientists know what the stars are made up of, have discovered thousands of planets outside the Earth’s solar system, and have even managed to estimate the age of the universe.

Caruana will be talking about this journey to the present and beyond. He will also talk about the largest ever telescopes currently being built and what they will tell us. The talk will be followed by an open discussion.

Caruana graduated from Malta with a BSc in Maths and Physics and DPhil from Oxford University.
