Q: A sales representative called me and convinced me to buy a mobile telephony service and to sign a contract for the provision of such a service.

On the same day I signed the contract, I changed my mind and went to one of the company’s branches to return the mobile and cancel the service. I also filled in the cancellation form where I specifically requested to terminate the sales contract.

A few days have now passed and I still do not have a confirmation from the company that the sales contract I signed has actually been terminated

A: Since the sale was concluded over the phone, you are definitely entitled to a cooling-off period of 14 days. It is important you keep a copy of the cancellation form you filled in, where you expressed your intention to cancel the sales contract.

If within a few days the service provider does not confirm that the contract of sale has been cancelled, you may then file a complaint with the Office for Consumer Affairs.
