An agreement has been reached between the government and the Union Haddiema Maghqudin on timeframes for the employment of new allied health care graduates, Parliamentary Secretary Chris Fearne tweeted this morning.

The UHM said the graduates are to be employed by February.

Some 800 state healthcare workers, including physiotherapists, radiographers and occupational therapists, were taking part in industrial action ordered by the union in protest at “unaddressed staff shortages”.

Allied healthcare workers include physiotherapists, medical lab specialists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, podiatrists, dental technologists, dental hygienists, audiologists, perfusionists (who assist during heart surgery) and radiographers.
