Clayton Pisani has been promoted to the first category of Uefa referees and is now eligible to officiate matches in the Europa League and Euro 2016 group stages.

It is the first time in 20 years that a Maltese referee has been promoted to the first category, second only to the Elite Category.

The announcement was made at an MFA press conference addressed by Adrian Casha, Director of referees at the Malta FA.

He also announced that Alan Mario Sant was also promoted to the second category of Eufa referees.

Malta has also regained its fourth seat on the Fifa Referees Panel after Adrian Azzopardi joined Marco Borg, Clayton Pisani and Alan Mario Sant.
