On December 18, after being well cared for at Mater Dei Hospital for a short while, JOSEPHINE (Jo), a few days short of her 82nd birthday, passed into eternal rest comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss the four children she worked so hard for, Mark, Moira and her husband Philip Rizzo, Martin and his wife Lucienne and Michael, her grandchildren Edward, Rebecca, Stephanie and Mariah Ferry and much-loved Philippa Rizzo, her sister Tessie Dimech, her brother Albert and his wife Mabel Dimech, Ferry and Dimech nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said on Saturday, December 20 at 8am at St Joseph parish church, Msida. She will be remembered by the communities of Msida and Ta’ Xbiex for having always provided a helping hand to all in need of support.

HARMSWORTH. On December 17, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, JOSEPHINE, widow of Joseph, aged 93, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Victor and his wife Vivi, Frank, widower of Miriam, Vincent and his wife Silvana, and Doris and her husband John, her grandchildren and their families, great-grandchildren, her sister Violet, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 8.30am at the Holy Trinity parish church, Marsa. Loved and remembered as a most devoted wife and mother.

PORTANIER. Suddenly, on December 16, at her residence in Swieqi, SUSAN, aged 52, passed away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her father Victor, her sister Ruth, nephew Luke, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow for the Immaculate Conception parish church, Tal-Ibraġ, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

On the third anniversary of the passing away of MALOU TOLEDO, a Mass for the repose of her soul will be said today at 6pm at the Ursuline Crèche, Sliema. The attendance of family and friends will be appreciated.

Greek Catholic bishop in Malta

Bishop Dimitrios Salachas, Apostolic Exarch for Greek-Catholics in Greece, is visiting Malta at the invitation of the local Greek-Catholic community.

Salachas is a canon lawyer and ecumenist of international standing and is a member of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church.

He will give a talk and answer questions regarding the present state of Orthodox-Catholic ecumenical dialogue on Saturday at 4pm at Castille Hotel, Valletta.

The bishop will celebrate Divine Liturgy on Sunday at 9am at Our Lady of Damascus church, Valletta, and will confer minor orders of lectorate and sub-diaconate on Martin Zammit, a member of the Greek-Catholic congregation.
