Video has emerged of the scene in an aircraft cabin during extreme turbulence which injured a number of people.

The flight from Seoul, South Korea, originally scheduled to land in Texas, was diverted to Narita, Japan for an emergency landing.

The turbulence was attributed to an intense winter storm.

The American Airlines flight had originally departed on Tuesday from Incheon International Airport, scheduled as a non stop to Dallas-Fort Worth Texas Airport.

Following a layover, passengers were put on another flight to Dallas-Fort Worth.

People on board said the violent turbulence occurred with just a few seconds warning. They said the plane veered and dipped and loose items were sent flying around the cabin. Meals had just been served, and many passengers were hit by flying glasses and plates.

Many people on board praised the American Airlines flight crew for their service and professionalism during the emergency.
