Now that the dust has somewhat settled, allow me to have my say about the real victim of the Manuel Mallia case: none other than Mallia himself.

Why did the Prime Minister speak of conduct unbecoming? Why did it appear to be such a rushed job? Mallia wasn’t going anywhere.

What if, for the sake of argument, the protagonist of the story, meaning the former minister’s driver, planned what happened with another person? In such a scenario, why should the villain be Mallia?

Why were the retired judges willing to chastise a person who was not even on the scene of the ‘crime’?

I remember a case many years ago where a father resigned from his post because his son committed a crime. But that is wrong. We are not accountable for another person’s actions whether politically or otherwise.

Why should a man of integrity be ousted because of the vile behaviour of another person?

Believe me when I say I expected the Prime Minister to be fair.
