The debate on the Enemalta, Shanghai agreement planned to be held in Parliament tomorrow (Wednesday) has been postponed at the Opposition’s request.

The government said in a statement that the Opposition requested the government to postpone the debate as Opposition leader Simon Busuttil was going to be abroad.

The government, which proposed the debate following the publication of the agreement last Friday, said it accepted the Opposition’s request and the debate would be held on a day convenient to the Opposition.

It said the agreement would be saving Enemalta from the precarious situation it had been left in. It would also placing the energy sector on a solid footing and create new opportunities for the country’s economy.

The government believed Parliament should debate the investment as soon as possible.
