A 32-year-old rape suspect (right) escaped from St Julian’s police station last night.

The man was arrested on Sunday night, at about 3.15am, in St George’s Road, St Julian’s, when officers of the rapid intervention unit heard a woman scream, the police said. The suspect resisted arrest and tried to run away but was restrained as the woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The police said last night the suspect – Seykou Ballde from Guinea – managed to escape at about 7.30pm. No details were given.
