A Bulgarian man was yesterday charged with smashing a man’s jawbone during a fight in Marsascala on Sunday morning.

Yuliyan Borislavov Toskov, 39, who lives in Marsascala, pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Velichko Asenov Dimov in Pjazza Dun Tarcis Agius. He also pleaded not guilty to breaching the peace.

The court said the alleged victim suffered a broken jawbone during the fight.

Magistrate Aaron Bugeja denied the man’s request, noting that the alleged victim, who was still in hospital, still had to testify.

Police inspector Robert Said Sarreo prosecuted while lawyer Yana Micallef Stafrace appeared for Mr Toskov.
