During a recent highly popular discussion programme on the national broadcasting channel, it was made abundantly clear that the three tunnels on the regional road need to be visibly identified, particularly during an emergency.

May I suggest that the tunnel on the Marsa side be named Santa Venera Tunnel, the one near the university will be known as the University Tunnel and the third St Julian’s Tunnel, with the names clearly displayed at both the entrances and the exits.

During the programme, the word collegiality was used to discredit the police force. According to my dictionary, the word is defined in a positive context implying “shared authority among colleagues to achieve the common good”. During the discussion, it was given the impression that “collegiality” is a dirty word.
