Here we look at some of the fashion highlights of 2014:

Jessica Brown-Findlay in Dior

Jessica Brown-Findlay looked radiant in Dior couture at the Winter's Tale premiere. The Downton alumnus looked ready for the prom in the pretty pastel dress and pointed white kitten heels.

Angelina Jolie in YSL

Angelina Jolie is well-known for her daring style choices. Who could forget that thigh-split dress at the Oscars two years ago? This year she pulled off the androgynous look in Yves Saint Laurent at the Baftas, matching her husband's outfit and winning style plaudits in the process.

Katy Perry in Vivienne Westwood

Katy Perry worked a vintage look in Vivienne Westwood at the Elle awards. The silky dress, rollered hair and bright red nails all recalled the forties, while her pointed nude pumps with jewel detail added a modern spin.

Emma Watson in Ralph Lauren

Emma Watson looked stunning in this white halter-dress at the premiere of Noah. The silk Ralph Lauren dress was teamed with white pumps and a bejewelled clutch bag. Her sophisticated look was topped off by a sleek hairdo.

Rihanna in Stella McCartney

The Met Gala is a chance for celebrities to show off their most adventurous style, and Rihanna didn't disappoint. She was one of a group of A-listers dressed by Stella McCartney for the event and this white ensemble showed off her stomach, plus a cheeky glimpse of tattoo.

Cate Blanchett in Ralph Lauren

Cate Blanchett looks elegant as ever in this slinky white number at Windsor Castle. Her sleek Ralph Lauren dress and chandelier crystal earrings fitted the glamorous location perfectly.

Emily Blunt in Osman

Emily Blunt's strapless blue and pink dress with matching shoes may have clashed with the red carpet but added a splash of colour to the Edge of Tomorrow premiere. The paisley Osman dress was one of three amazing outfits she wore to premieres on a single day.

Jourdan Dunn in Zuhair Murad

Jourdan Dunn kept up the standard for the British modelling community with this racy black number at the GQ men of the year awards. She was joined by fellow model Cara Delevigne who wore a similarly racy outfit, and the pair ensured the limelight was firmly away from the boys.

Cara Delevigne and Kate Moss in Burberry

Cara Delevigne and Kate Moss showed why they are style icons at the Burberry show in September. Cara teamed her Burberry suit with some flash trainers and a personalised handbag, while Kate wore a black suede trenchcoat, leather trousers and some snazzy snakeskin sandals.

Lupita Nyong'o in Dior

This green Dior dress won Lupita Nyong'o universal fashion plaudits at the Baftas, enabling her to stand out at an event where most stars opted for more monochrome ensembles. She set the emerald outfit off with accessories including a gold waist belt.

Laura Haddock in Antipodium

Laura Haddock looked like a princess in this black midi-skirted creation at the Love, Rosie premiere. The black skirt was just built for swishing and she didn't hold back as she attended the event with husband Sam Claflin in October. Onlookers said the two could barely keep their hands off each other.

Romeo Beckham in Burberry

Romeo Beckham has clearly been taking style tips from his parents. He looks super-suave at the Burberry show in Burberry (what else?) right down to his trademark checked scarf. A fashion icon in the making.

Sienna Miller in Burberry, and Tom Sturridge

Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge look super hot at the Evening Standard Awards. She looked fresh-faced and pretty in a pink and silver Burberry dress, and his top-hat-and-suit combination was an interesting spin on the boring old dinner jacket usually favoured by male celebrities. A power couple in more ways than one.

Harry Styles in Lanvin

Harry Styles is growing increasingly confident in his style choices, and this dapper pinstripe suit is no exception. He rocked up to the British Fashion awards on top form in a Lanvin suit with rockstar Yves Saint Laurent ankle boots. This teen heartthrob is fast becoming a fashion icon.

Alexa Chung in Emilia Wickstead

No best-dressed list would be complete without Alexa Chung. Looking fabulous as always, the fashionista teamed a collared silver Emilia Wickstead dress with a fun Charlotte Olympia handbag at the British Fashion Awards.
