Five members from the Malta Air Rifle and Pistol Shooting Club have just taken part in a series of shoots in Strassen, Luxembourg.

The team was composed of Eleonor Bezzina, Josephine Galea Calleja (air pistol), Alison Vella (air rifle), Wayne Galea and junior Gianluca Azzopardi Spiteri (air rifle).

They all competed in the international RIAC 1, RIAC 2 and Ibis Cup competitions.

The shoots were part of the build-up for next year’s GSSE in Iceland and the results were encouraging with some exceeding those scored in local competitions at the Bidnija indoor range.

Azzopardi Spiteri scored an MQS established by the Maltese Olympic Committee. He is now in a position to earn a berth in the Maltese team for the GSSE.

Bezzina returned home with the best results though.

She qualified for the finals in all three competitions and placed third in the RIAC1. She was fourth in RIAC2 after losing a shoot-off by 0.2 of a point.

Bezzina was classified sixth in the Ibis Cup final.
