A Bulgarian man was today remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to smashing a man’s jawbone during a fight in Marsascala yesterday morning.

Yuliyan Borislavov Toskov, 39, who lives in Marsascala, pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Velichko Asenov Dimov in Pjazza Dun Tarcis Agius in Marsascala. He also pleaded not guilty to breaching the peace.

Magistrate Aaron Bugeja denied the man’s request, noting that the alleged victim, who was still in hospital, still had to testify before the courts.

Police Inspector Robert Said Sarreo prosecuted while lawyer Yana Micallef Stafrace appeared for the man.
