Ings: Ajax are looking to sign Burnley striker Danny Ings. Director of football Marc Overmars reckons the England Under-21 frontman, who has scored four times in 13 appearances for the Clarets this season, would suit Ajax’s style of play. Southampton, who had Ings on their books as a youngster, are also keen to sign him. Ings will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Leicester: Leicester City sacked director of football Terry Robinson yesterday as the Premier League’s bottom side look to avoid another transfer window of disappointment. The central England side, who have not won since beating Manchester United 5-3 in September, announced on their website that Robinson’s contract had been terminated. Manager Nigel Pearson may now be feeling he has some breathing space with the promoted side’s troubles being pinned on recruitment before the season.

Brozovic: Everton have joined the race to sign Marcelo Brozovic as the winter window looms, reports said yesterday. The £6m-rated Dinamo Zagreb midfielder, who played for Croatia at the World Cup in Brazil, has also been linked with Arsenal, Inter and Atletico Madrid. Brozovic, 22, joined Zagreb from rivals NK Lokomotive two years ago for a fee of £2 million.

Mkhitaryan: Borussia Dortmund forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan will miss his side’s last two Bundesliga matches of 2014 after being ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring tear, yesterday. Mkhitaryan limped out of Dortmund’s 1-0 defeat at Hertha Berlin on Saturday after just over half an hour and a scan yesterday confirmed he would not play again this year.

Michu: Napoli striker Michu, now nearing full recovery from ankle surgery, could be allowed to continue the second half of the season elsewhere with Crystal Palace showing interest in signing the former Swansea player. Palace boss Neil Warnock is pressing to sign a goalscorer next month and is prepared to rescue Michu from an unhappy loan spell with Napoli where he has failed to score in his five matches played. Palace also like another Swansea forward Bafetimbi Gomis but are scared off by the £7m price tag.
