Two Romanians have been remanded in preventive custody pending judgment after they pleaded guilty to 16 counts of theft in three weeks.
Mihaela Niculae and Marian-Sorin Mihailoiu, both aged 44, admitted to pick-pocketing and stealing around €1,200 in cash and mobile phones between November 29 and December 11 in Sliema and Gzira.
Inspector Jason Sultana said the police recovered the stolen goods.
The Romanians, who were represented by lawyer Joseph Ellis, were arrested after the police found the contents of a wallet stolen from the Fortina Hotel at their residence.
