A 20-year-old man from Fgura was this afternoon remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to setting up his friend to be robbed.

Inspector James Grech told the court accused Dylan Mc Kay left a bar in Paceville with his friend Wayne Lughermo on Tuesday night.

Mr Mc Kay told Mr Lughermo to go to the car when the latter was attacked from behind and robbed. He was unable to defend himself.

Mr Mc Kay denied stealing a Rolex watch and mobile phone from Mr Lughermo, conspiring to hold him against his will and slightly injuring him.

Inspector Grech and Inspector Carole Fabri objected to a request for bail because of the fear of tampering of evidence.

Defence lawyer Roberto Montalto said these were conspiracy theories.

His client, he said, left the bar with the victim and both were going to be attacked but his client managed to get away.

Mr Mc Kay, the lawyer said, even took the victim, who could not identify who robbed him, to the police station to file a report.
